Report: Big Food companies blocked India's plan for red warning labels on snacks and sodas

According to a Reuters report, the FSSAI considered adding red warning labels to soda bottles and bags of chips during a meeting in March to alert shoppers about high levels of fat and sugar. However, the agency reportedly gave in to pressure from major food corporations. Industry executives argued that these labels would be misleading and fail to work. Mili Bhattacharya of Coca-Cola India stated that doctors in the country have already effectively educated patients on which products they should steer clear of.
