Report: Apple abandoned Apple Pencil for foldable iPhone due to design flaws
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple experimented with a smaller Apple Pencil intended for its upcoming foldable device, the iPhone Ultra. The project was ultimately shelved because the stylus caused several design problems, such as making the device difficult to open, creating an uncomfortable grip, and posing a risk of scratching the internal screen. While Apple has opted not to include the accessory with the initial iPhone Ultra release, it may revisit the idea for later models.
