Reliance Jio's plan for indigenous LEO satellite network gets a boost
According to a report by The Economic Times, IN-SPACe has deemed Reliance Jio's strategy to launch approximately 1,600 low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites as technically viable. This endorsement enables the government to support Jio in obtaining the necessary global orbital slots, a sector presently led by Elon Musk’s Starlink. Should the initiative succeed, it would establish the first satellite constellation developed entirely within India.
