Record-breaking rainfall leaves 7,000 stuck at Tokyo airport

Around 7,000 travelers were left stuck at Narita Airport in Tokyo following historic rainfall across Japan. Over 360 mm (14 inches) of rain poured down in a single day in areas of Chiba near Tokyo, flooding both train lines and roads. The severe weather also knocked out electricity for more than 20,000 homes in Chiba prefecture, and at least eight individuals lost their lives in the resulting flash floods.
