Reason behind Pakistan's August 14 Independence Day

Lord Mountbatten, the final viceroy of British India, handed over power to Pakistan on August 14, 1947. It is said he did this to ensure he could attend India’s independence festivities in New Delhi the next day. A different perspective is that Pakistan selected August 14 as it fell on the 27th of Ramadan, a date viewed as sacred in the Islamic lunar calendar.
