Researchers have identified a new species of leafless flowering plant called Thismia daemona within Thailand's Thong Pha Phum National Park. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters, the plant does not contain chlorophyll and survives by drawing nutrients from fungi. The name was chosen due to its dark, demonic-looking bloom. This is the first time a plant from this specific genus section has been spotted in Thailand, and it is currently considered to be Critically Endangered.
