Rafael Márquez named new Mexico manager following World Cup elimination

The Mexican Football Federation has confirmed that Rafael Márquez will take over as head coach, signing a contract that lasts through 2030. The 47-year-old takes the reins from Javier Aguirre, who resigned after Mexico lost 2-3 to England during the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Márquez had previously been working as an assistant under Aguirre since July 2024.
