Punjab woman turns to shrimp farming due to salty soil

Rupinder Kaur, a resident of Inna Khera village in Punjab, turned to shrimp farming after facing issues with waterlogged fields and saline soil. Following specialized training and workshops, she launched her business with the help of a 60% subsidy via the PMMSY scheme and bank financing. Currently, she harvests between 6 and 10 tonnes of shrimp per acre every year, supplying her catch to markets in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, and Mumbai.
