Punjab Police nab US-wanted man with ₹1.4-crore FBI bounty

On Friday, Punjab Police took into custody Manjit Singh Bedi, an India-born American citizen, in Jalandhar. The FBI had placed a reward of up to $150,000, approximately ₹1.4 crore, for information leading to his arrest. Bedi appeared on the FBI's Most Wanted Fraudsters list due to accusations that he swindled the US government out of at least $600,000 using a benefits fraud scheme. Following his indictment, he reportedly escaped to India by way of Canada this past April.
