Punjab limits private school fee increases to 5%, impacting 32 lakh students

The Punjab administration has restricted private schools from raising annual fees by more than 5%. Additionally, schools that increased their fees by over 15% during the previous three years have been directed to return the extra charges to parents. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that this move will provide relief to 32 lakh students. The new regulations are now active under 'The Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Education Institutions (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026'.
