Pune likely to introduce India's first alphanumeric vehicle registration series
Pune is set to keep its 'MH-12' registration code even as the current series hits its limit with the 'ZZ' sequence. The local RTO has suggested moving to an 'MH-12 1A' format rather than adopting a three-letter system. This plan is currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. If the proposal gets the green light, it will mark the first time India uses a digit-letter combination for vehicle plates.
