Pune CFO thwarts ₹1.5 crore fraud attempt after initial scam payment

According to The Indian Express, a financial officer in Pune managed to prevent a major loss of ₹1.5 crore after being targeted in a 'boss scam.' Scammers posed as the company's CEO from Italy on Microsoft Teams and successfully convinced the CFO to wire ₹56 lakh. The following morning, when the fraudsters demanded another ₹1.5 crore, she became wary and halted any further transfers.
