Proposed US legislation aims to fast-track green cards for H-1B holders
A Democratic senator is supporting a fresh US bill that could establish a new path to permanent residency for long-term immigrants, such as those on H-1B visas. Under this proposal, immigrants who have resided in the country for more than seven years prior to their application would be granted permanent residency, as long as they do not have a criminal history. Should this bill become law, it could make more than eight million individuals eligible for green cards.
