President awards Independence Day honour to Army dog injured in anti-terror mission
Tyson, a German Shepherd serving in the Army, received recognition for his "bravery and extraordinary courage" displayed throughout a February counter-insurgency mission in Jammu and Kashmir. During the engagement, the dog sustained a gunshot wound to his leg from terrorists. Tyson was included in the list of 89 Mention-in-Despatches (MiD) recipients sanctioned by President Droupadi Murmu ahead of the 2026 Independence Day celebrations.
