Pehowa, Haryana maintains ancient family lineage records
Each year, a vast number of individuals travel from states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Bihar, and various southern regions to Pehowa, Haryana. They come to perform rituals following a death and to honor their ancestors. While there, they record their family information in 'bahis,' which are traditional genealogy registers. These hand-written documents serve as a repository for generations of family histories, even including the lineages of royal households.
