Over 6 lakh girls in Gujarat receive cervical cancer vaccine
According to a PTI report, Gujarat has reached a milestone by vaccinating more than 6 lakh girls against cervical cancer. The central government has further supplied the state with 2.72 lakh extra doses. These new stocks will ensure that 14-year-old girls can continue to receive the vaccine monthly through December 31, 2026. Cervical cancer is noted as the second most frequent cancer affecting women in India.
