Over 2,500 fuel stations in India halt E20 petrol sales due to quality concerns

According to an Autocar India report, the Union Petroleum Ministry has initiated a major quality-check drive for E20 fuel, resulting in the suspension of sales at 2,573 petrol pumps that failed to adhere to required standards. This move followed concerns raised by activist Tehseen Poonawalla, who highlighted a letter from SIAM to the government regarding significant impurities found in E20 petrol. Authorities have now made it compulsory for petrol tanks to undergo water-ingress testing between 8 and 12 times every day.
