Over 15 villages isolated after 44-year-old Vedavathi river bridge collapses
A bridge spanning the Vedavathi river in Konigarahalli, Karnataka, has fallen, leaving more than 15 villages stranded. The structure, which was opened in 1982 by then-Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao, had been showing signs of damage for some time. Local residents noted that the bridge had been in poor condition and was considered dangerous for travelers well before its final collapse, which has now halted regular commuting and school bus services.
