Over 100 writers file lawsuit against Anthropic over Claude AI training
A group of more than 100 authors has initiated legal action against Anthropic, accusing the firm of utilizing their written works without authorization to develop its Claude AI. The plaintiffs allege that the company accessed over 500 pirated books from web-based repositories and are requesting damages of up to $150,000 for each infringed title. This legal challenge comes after the authors declined to participate in a separate $1.5 billion settlement.
