OpenAI says Jalapeño chip beats NVIDIA processors in speed
OpenAI announced that its latest Jalapeño chip surpassed NVIDIA’s existing hardware during performance evaluations. The processor managed a higher volume of AI tasks for every unit of energy consumed and achieved latency speeds up to 3.6 times faster than NVIDIA’s GB200 and GB300 models. The company intends to integrate Jalapeño into its own computing systems by the end of this year, with a wider rollout scheduled for 2027.
