An international group of marine biologists has identified a novel spiny seahorse species named Hippocampus amandavincentae. The creature was unintentionally gathered as fishing bycatch in Tamil Nadu. This species is spread throughout the Indian Ocean. Its identification clears up classification mix-ups with similar-looking relatives from the Pacific Ocean.
