Novak Djokovic eliminated in Grand Slam opening round for first time in two decades
Novak Djokovic, a 24-time major winner, experienced his first opening-round exit at a Grand Slam in more than 20 years following a defeat to Argentina’s Mariano Navone at the 2026 US Open. The final score was 7-6(7-5), 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in favor of Navone. The last time Djokovic lost in the first round of a major tournament was against Paul Goldstein during the 2006 Australian Open.
