Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has reiterated his plan to introduce a 'negative point' mechanism for those who violate traffic regulations. According to this proposal, motorists will accumulate negative points on their record each time they commit a traffic offense. Once these points hit a specific threshold, the driver's license could face suspension or permanent cancellation. To implement this change, the government intends to bring amendments to the Motor Vehicles Act.
