Nirmal Purja's final update shares his reason for picking Broad Peak
In his final social media update, climber Nirmal Purja shared his reasoning for opting for Broad Peak instead of his original objective. He explained that while preparing for his Pakistan expedition, he reviewed his 8,000-meter summit records and realized that completing Broad Peak would leave only Cho Oyu on his list. Purja noted that achieving this would make him the first individual to summit all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks twice, all while climbing without supplemental oxygen.
