NHAI makes highway payments conditional on tree planting goals

The NHAI has introduced stricter requirements for plantation work along national highways. Contractors are now mandated to cover 80% of the available Right of Way (ROW) with plants and ensure a 90% survival rate for the saplings. Moving forward, the release of O&M payments and the issuance of completion certificates for EPC, HAM, and BOT projects will be tied to achieving these specific targets. Additionally, any plants that do not survive must be swapped out for new ones of a comparable size and maturity.
