New Zealand grants two doctors approval to use MDMA for PTSD treatment

New Zealand has become the second nation to authorize the use of MDMA-assisted therapy for patients suffering from intense PTSD. Health regulator Medsafe has given the green light to two psychiatrists to provide medical-grade MDMA to qualified adult patients. The substance is not approved for general use and cannot be taken at home. Instead, it must be given within a controlled clinical environment, paired with psychotherapy, to ensure patients can safely work through their trauma.
