New study suggests hidden water on distant exoplanets

Researchers at the University of Chicago have discovered that sub-Neptune and mini-Neptune exoplanets might hold significantly more water than what is visible in their atmospheres. By employing a simulation program called ATHENAIA, the team analyzed the exoplanet TOI-270 d. They determined that its outer atmosphere might be masking a substantial, water-heavy interior that remains undetectable by the James Webb Space Telescope's current capabilities.
