Researchers have created an artificial intelligence system capable of mapping the ageing process across various parts of the brain. The model was trained using 14,748 MRI scans taken from individuals between the ages of 19 and 100. During testing on fresh data, the AI successfully pinpointed rapid ageing in areas associated with Alzheimer’s disease, specifically the amygdala and hippocampus. Additionally, the study revealed that the temporal and frontal lobes—both vital for memory and making decisions—also experience faster rates of ageing.
