Nepal tunnel worker survives 9 days after prioritizing colleagues

Sanjay Sah, a worker, was found alive after being stuck for nine days inside the Trishuli 3A hydropower tunnel in Nepal, which flooded on August 26. Sah had stayed back to assist his coworkers in escaping, which cost him his own opportunity to get out safely. Another survivor, Kabir Maharjan, was also successfully rescued. Search teams suspect that three to four additional people could still be alive trapped within the tunnel. Currently, the national disaster death toll in Nepal has reached 1,259, with 5,083 individuals still reported missing.
