Severe flash flooding has struck the Nepal-Tibet border region, sweeping away entire settlements and causing significant destruction to power plants and bridges. Authorities are concerned about a high death toll. The Rasuwa district, home to 50,000 residents, saw the worst impact in the Syapru Besi and Timure sectors. Officials have issued urgent warnings for people living close to the Bhote Koshi river to move to safer, elevated areas. This river also saw similar flash flooding events last year.
