NASA study suggests human microbes could endure at Moon's South Pole
A NASA investigation indicates that certain Earth-based microorganisms carried by astronauts might be able to persist within the shadowed crevices of the lunar South Pole. That said, there is currently no proof that these microbes are capable of multiplying or thriving in that environment. NASA noted that transporting bacteria to the Moon is inevitable, given that a patch of human skin the size of a pencil eraser typically hosts around 1 million bacteria.
