NASA shares photos of 60-foot crater from SpaceX rocket lunar impact
NASA has published images comparing the lunar surface before and after a spent SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket stage struck the Moon on August 5. The booster, which had been floating in space for more than a year, slammed into the surface at a speed of approximately 8,700 kmph. According to NASA, the resulting crater measures 60 feet across and is under 10 feet deep, with wreckage from the crash scattered across the area.
