NASA mission underway to save Swift Observatory from atmospheric reentry
On Friday, NASA deployed the LINK spacecraft with the goal of preventing the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory from crashing back to Earth. The rescue craft is equipped with three robotic arms designed to grab the observatory and boost it into a more secure orbit. The Swift Observatory, which tracks intense cosmic explosions, has seen its altitude decline from its initial 600-km path down to approximately 360 km.
