Music industry is still patriarchal, says Shreya Ghoshal on turning down vulgar tracks
Playback singer Shreya Ghoshal discussed how the music business continues to be "slightly patriarchal," even though there have been some improvements. Regarding her decision to decline tracks featuring suggestive lyrics, Shreya remarked, "There were some popular songs that did very well, but I said no. Thankfully…those songs have become quite less." She further noted, "It's a slightly patriarchal, gender-based thing…It's changing…Still, I feel it's very male-heavy."
