Mumbai's 99-year-old Deonar dump site cleanup delayed despite ₹2,537-crore contract
According to RTI documents cited by The Indian Express, operations to clear a section of the 99-year-old Deonar landfill in Mumbai have not started. Records indicate that the BMC granted a ₹2,537-crore cleanup contract to the Hyderabad-based firm Navayuga Engineering Company Limited (NECL). Although the project was scheduled to commence by January 2026, five out of the seven required statutory approvals remain outstanding.
