More buyers opting for 4G phones due to surging 5G costs: Study

Shoppers are shifting toward budget-friendly 4G smartphones because higher price tags are putting 5G models out of reach, especially in non-metro areas. According to IDC figures, the market share for 4G devices climbed to 11.1% during the second quarter of 2026, up from 5.8% in the first quarter. As it becomes difficult to maintain 5G smartphone prices under ₹15,000, manufacturers are shifting their focus to provide a wider selection of 4G options.
