Milky Way's fastest star discovered moving at 25,000 km per second
Researchers have found S301, the fastest-moving star known in the Milky Way, which reaches speeds of around 25,000 km per second as it orbits Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at our galaxy's center. The star finishes its orbit in just 8.7 years. It was spotted using the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope Interferometer.
