Microsoft and Tata Communications partner for new undersea cable project in Asia

A group featuring Microsoft, Tata Communications, and the Singapore-based startup Lightstorm is set to construct a fresh undersea cable connecting India to Malaysia and Singapore. The project, known as the I-2SEA cable, is slated to begin operations by 2029. Stretching across 3,600 km, the network will feature landing stations located in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. According to the companies involved, the infrastructure is designed to bolster cloud services and artificial intelligence capabilities.
