Meet Zhao Zongqi: The former Chinese general behind Doklam and Galwan border conflicts
Zhao Zongqi has been dismissed from China's primary political advisory group. He previously served as the inaugural commander of the Western Theatre Command, the unit responsible for managing military activity along the Indian border. During his tenure, he oversaw the 2017 Doklam standoff and the 2020 Galwan Valley clash with India. Zongqi, who enlisted in the Chinese military at age 16, has remained out of the public eye for several months.
