Indian para-athlete Dilip Gavit, a gold medalist at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, is a native of Nashik, Maharashtra. The 23-year-old athlete, who suffered the loss of his right arm following a fall from a tree in his hometown, at first declined to take part in para-sport competitions, preferring to challenge able-bodied runners instead. Previously, Gavit secured a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China.
