When a reporter from New Zealand questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi avoids holding press conferences, Ministry of External Affairs official Rudrendra Tandon remarked, "Your question has that quality of Déjà vu." A similar inquiry was previously raised in May 2026 by Norwegian journalist Helle Lyng Svendsen. During his visit to New Zealand, Tandon stated that it would be improper for him, as a civil servant, to comment on the Prime Minister's approach.
