Mathematician claims OpenAI researcher questioned his career choices over credit dispute
Tristan Buckmaster, a mathematician at NYU, suggested that OpenAI might have utilized his research for their purported solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize problem. He stated that OpenAI presented him with two different offers, both of which he turned down. These included a proposal regarding the timing of the publication and another that would have removed Levent Alpöge of Anthropic from the list of authors. Buckmaster further claimed that Sébastien Bubeck, a researcher at OpenAI, responded to his refusal by asking him why he would want to destroy his own career.
