Massive A23a iceberg vanishes following four-decade journey

The largest iceberg on the planet, known as A23a, has vanished after floating across the Antarctic Ocean for roughly 40 years. Covering an area of about 3,500 square kilometers, the iceberg moved over 2,000 kilometers before reaching warmer seas, where it eventually melted away. A23a originated in 1986 as one of a trio of icebergs that detached from the Filchner–Ronne Ice Shelf in Antarctica.
