Managing 3 midlife health factors could postpone dementia by 13 years, study finds
According to a recent global research project, keeping type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and smoking in check during middle age could potentially push back the onset of dementia by about 13 years. The findings, which appeared in the journal Neurology, were based on an examination of health records from more than 12,400 individuals spanning nearly 26 years. The study authors noted that addressing these specific health concerns is a key step in safeguarding brain function over time and lowering the likelihood of developing dementia.
