Maharashtra’s Ganesh idol manufacturing center faces flood damage before festival
Heavy flooding in the Raigad district of Maharashtra has impacted Pen, a major international center for artisan Ganesh statues. With Ganesh Chaturthi approaching, the disaster has ruined more than 3 lakh idols and swept away essential equipment and raw materials. These statues are typically exported to various Indian states and international destinations, including the UK, the US, and Mauritius. The local economy in over 12 villages in Pen relies entirely on the production of these idols.
