Maharashtra FDA launches crackdown on substandard and mislabeled edible oils

Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Munde announced that edible oil is the upcoming priority for the department's ongoing food safety initiative across the state. He noted that during the previous year, officials analyzed 1,247 samples, which resulted in the identification of 77 substandard, 13 unsafe, and 15 misbranded products. Additionally, authorities confiscated 3,20,781 kg of oil stock valued at approximately ₹5.31 crore. Munde emphasized that the department will implement more rigorous enforcement measures throughout the entire supply chain of edible oils.
