Maharashtra: August 16 deadline for auto and taxi drivers to clear Marathi test
Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has stated that taxi and auto-rickshaw operators who do not pass a functional Marathi language assessment by August 16 risk having their licenses cancelled. The state had previously established August 15 as the cutoff for drivers who do not speak Marathi to gain proficiency in the language. Additionally, Sarnaik confirmed that bike taxi operations are set to officially launch across the state starting August 1.
