Madras HC: Tamil Thai Vazhthu can precede Vande Mataram at official functions

The Madras High Court has ruled that the Tamil Thai Vazhthu may be performed prior to the national anthem and Vande Mataram during government functions. The court explained that the Union Home Ministry's directive mandating that Vande Mataram be sung first does not forbid the Tamil anthem from being played beforehand. The Centre noted that its order does not apply to state-specific songs.
