Life insurance buyers opting for larger covers; premiums jump 43% in five years

According to the Insurance Information Bureau (IIB), individuals purchasing life insurance are showing a preference for policies with larger coverage amounts. The bureau reported that the average yearly premium for each policy has climbed by 43% over the past five years, moving from ₹15,567 in FY21 to ₹22,195 in FY25. Additionally, the IIB noted that there has been a 68% increase in the number of policies that provide coverage exceeding ₹50 lakh.
