Lalu Yadav took most chartered flights as Rail Minister; Suresh Prabhu spent the most

An RTI inquiry by India Today has shown that railway ministers have utilized chartered flights 33 times since 2007, with a total expenditure of ₹8.90 crore. Lalu Yadav, who held the Railway Minister portfolio from 2004 to 2009, opted for chartered aircraft on 12 separate trips. Meanwhile, Suresh Prabhu recorded the highest expenses, with his travel costs reaching ₹3.01 crore.
